Apply to work with Philly Handyman Remodeling & Renovations

We are a residential handyman and remodeling company focused on delivering quality work, one project at a time. As we continue to grow, we are building a dependable, skilled field crew committed to craftsmanship and professionalism. Our work is structured on a project-by-project, job-by-job basis to ensure flexibility and efficiency for both our team and our clients. Most crew members begin as 1099 independent contractors, giving us the ability to collaborate with experienced tradespeople while maintaining high standards on every job.

Independent Contractor Notice

Most crew members are initially engaged as 1099 independent contractors and are assigned work on a per-project basis rather than guaranteed weekly hours. This means contractors are responsible for handling their own taxes, insurance, and any required licensing. Work availability may vary depending on project needs, and there is no guarantee of a set schedule or minimum hours. As our company grows, high-performing contractors who become consistent, long-term members of the team may have the opportunity to transition into W-2 employment.

Position Tiers

We operate with three technician tiers based on skill level, experience, and scope of responsibility. These tiers are internal performance and capability benchmarks used to assign projects, set expectations, and determine pay rates. They are not employment classifications and do not guarantee a specific role, number of hours, or long-term position with the company.

Assistant Technician

This is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to grow in the trades. Assistant Technicians support higher-level technicians on job sites and help with general tasks to keep projects moving efficiently. Basic familiarity with hand and power tools is preferred, along with a strong willingness to learn and take direction. The role requires physical capability, including lifting materials and working on ladders when needed. Reliable transportation is required to travel to various job sites.

Tier B Skilled Technician

A Skilled Technician can independently complete common handyman and home repair tasks with confidence and efficiency. This role requires hands-on experience across multiple trades—such as carpentry, drywall, light plumbing, and electrical—and the ability to troubleshoot typical residential repair issues without close supervision. Skilled Technicians are expected to communicate professionally with clients, represent the company well on job sites, and maintain a high standard of workmanship. Reliable transportation is required to travel between projects.

Lead Technician

A Lead Technician demonstrates high competency across multiple trades and can confidently run jobs from start to finish with minimal oversight. This role includes managing job flow, maintaining quality standards, and overseeing an Assistant Technician when assigned. Lead Technicians are strong problem-solvers with the ability to troubleshoot complex residential issues and execute solutions efficiently. Professional, clear communication with clients is essential, along with reliable transportation to travel to and manage various project sites.
